In today’s digital landscape, businesses and consumers have to navigate constant technological changes—think AI and data analytics, for example—and the new challenges they present for protecting privacy. Moving into 2025, regulations like the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and the Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR) will be pivotal in addressing concerns about information privacy, communications privacy, and personal privacy.

We invite you to join us on March 25 and 26, in Fresno, for a two-day privacy rights roundtable and train-the-trainer—”Navigating Privacy Rights for Consumers and Businesses”—hosted by Consumer Action, in collaboration with the Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation and the Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce.

Navigating Privacy Rights for Businesses (Tuesday, March 25):

This roundtable, designed for small business owners, chambers of commerce, and agencies that help consumers start small businesses, will explore:

• The TCPA: What it requires and prohibits, and best practices to avoid penalties

• Business ID theft: How it happens, and how to protect your business’s data and customer personal information

• New protections for businesses against telemarketing fraud and AI-enabled scam calls

• Why small businesses in California are struggling

Navigating Privacy Rights for Consumers (Wednesday, March 26):

This training, intended for consumers interested in learning about their privacy rights in California and the laws that protect them, and for community-based organizations, including agencies serving the disabled, victims of domestic violence, seniors, veterans, rural residents, and low-to-moderate-income consumers, will explore:

• The TCPA’s key provisions and how the law protects consumers’ privacy

• Consumer rights under the CCPA

• How to protect children’s privacy online
